Dr. Lynette Browne

Welcome to Terre Haute Music School! We are pleased that you are considering music lessons!  Research has shown that we are all born with an aptitude for music, and we are here to nurture it!

As a parent, I understand how much better it feels to know a teacher’s background before putting your child in their care. I invite you to read my professional introduction below.

Dr. Lynette Browne has been teaching piano and early childhood music classes since 1991.   She holds a doctor of musical arts degree from University of Miami in Miami, Florida.  Her other degrees are from the University of North Texas and Texas Christian University.  She has resided in Terre Haute since 2004 where she has been on the faculty of Indiana State University teaching music and running the Community Music Center.  She has given presentations on the importance of early childhood music at local, state, and national venues.  She is a member of the Wabash Valley Music Teaches Association (part of the Music Teachers National Association), Sigma Alpha Iota Terre Haute Alumnae chapter, the College Music Society, and the Early Childhood Music and Movement Association (certified level 3).  She and her husband, Ed, are also active with the Community Theater of Terre Haute.  Lynette has a 8-year-old daughter and enjoys being a busy mom!

As you familiarize yourself with our class offerings, we look forward to answering your questions and welcoming your family into our music studio.

Tim Bennett

Hello! My name is Tim Bennett and I am very excited to be teaching at Terre Haute Music School. I went to Ball State University, where I was involved in different ensembles and music classes. I have been a Music Director at churches for over 8 years where I taught groups as well as individuals. During this time I worked with not only adults, but teens and children as well. I have been playing guitar and other instruments for over 15 years. I really enjoy helping students learn and grow in their skills and musical understanding.
